‘Pastebot 2.0’ Clipboard Manager From Tapbots Launches on Mac App Store

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

Tapbots, the developers behind the popular Twitter client Tweetbot, today launched Pastebot 2.0 for Mac, which is designed to make copy and paste better.

Pastebot is a clipboard manager that saves everything you copy so you can access it later. Pasteboards, which are built into Pastebot, let you store links and snippets of text that you frequently copy and paste so you can access the info in just a few seconds.

Multiple Pasteboards can be used to keep your text clippings organized, and the clipboard itself can be opened up with a Command + Shift + V keyboard shortcut or through a Menu bar app. Filters can be applied to copied text snippets for formatting purposes to save even more time. Options include Create List, Wrap in Paragraph Tags, Convert to Plain Text, Change Case, Emoji Remover, and more.

Pastebot has been in beta testing since August, but is now available for download from the Mac App Store starting today. It's priced at $19.99. [Direct Link]

During beta testing, Pastebot content was not able to sync between Macs because CloudKit is required, and CloudKit is not available to apps outside of the Mac App Store. With the version that's launching today, syncing is possible so you can use it across multiple Macs.

Tapbots’ New Mac Clipboard Manager ‘Pastebot’ Now Available via Public Beta

Wednesday, August 31st, 2016

Tapbots, the developers behind popular Twitter client Tweetbot, today announced a public beta for their latest app, Pastebot. Pastebot is a clipboard manager for Mac designed to store everything you copy so that it can be re-accessed at any time.

Available as both a Mac menu bar app and a standard app, Pastebot supports Pasteboards, where snippets of text that you frequently copy and paste can be quickly accessed. Multiple Pasteboards can be created to keep all text clippings organized and the clipboard can be opened with a simple Command + Shift + V keyboard shortcut.

A range of filters are available that can be applied to copied text snippets for formatting purposes. Filter examples include Create List, Wrap in Paragraph Tags, Convert to Plain Text, Change Case, Emoji Remover, and more.

For the time being, syncing Pastebot content between Macs is not available because the feature uses CloudKit, which isn't available outside of the Mac App Store. Syncing will be available when the full app is released and Tapbots says Pastebot will work alongside with the new clipboard sharing features built into macOS Sierra.

The Pastebot public beta can be downloaded immediately from the Tapbots website. Following the beta testing process, Pastebot will be released on the Mac App Store as a paid app.

Tweetbot 4 for iOS Updated With Support for Apple Watch

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015

Tapbots today released a significant update for its latest Tweetbot 4 Twitter client, adding support for the Apple Watch. On the Apple Watch, the default view is the Activity Feed, which includes Mentions, Favorites (soon to be likes), and Follows - the content you'd most likely want to view on a small screen.

From the Activity Feed, it's possible to tap to view individual tweets to Reply, Retweet, or Favorite, and tapping on a name also leads to a profile where a Direct Message can be sent to a user or someone can be followed. A force press on the Apple Watch within Tweetbot will bring up the option to send a tweet, and composing a message is done via voice dictation.

Today's update is the second major update to Tweetbot 4, which Tapbots released a month ago. Tweetbot 4, a newly universal app for the iPhone and the iPad, introduced a redesigned look, new Statistics and Activity Views, and support for features like split-screen multitasking on the iPad. A later update also brought support for 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

Tweetbot 4 can be downloaded from the App Store for $4.99. [Direct Link]
